(Our Niece) Erika Gabrielle A. Turns 1!

I can't believe that our niece Erika (my SIL's daughter) turned 1 already last July 11, 2008! It seems like only yesterday when I posted here that my SIL just gave birth to a baby girl! Babies really do grow up so fast!

Anyway, Erika's first birthday was a blast! They chose a "fairy" themed party and the little girls who attended wore wings. We also bought wings for Alex but for some reason she just didn't want to wear it! Probably it was itchy or something. The balloon decor of the party was nice and the backdrop was so pretty.

Food carts were: NYPD fries, Frito Frio ice cream, and Dunkin Donuts. Too bad I couldn't drink coffee so I just tried to enjoy the smell of it. LOL! (Oh, how I miss drinking coffee!) They also had glitter tattoo and a huge inflatable that the kids really love.

Would you believe that when Alex first saw this inflatable, she immediately removed her shoes! But since she is too young for it, we couldn't allow her to play. But in the middle of the party, she finally was able to play but with Hubby's assistance. That's the reason why Hubby got so tired after the party. LOL!

The food was yummy too. They served: Paella, Lasagna, Baked Fish, Beef Stroganoff, Baked Chicken, and Crepe for dessert. I loved the food so much. I just couldn't eat that much though because I would feel bloated afterwards.

The cake was also nice. It was made my Kitchen Crafts and what I really like about it was that it was not too sweet, well the mocha was not and if ever I would have another party, I would probably get them. A little expensive but it was worth it.

Here are the photos of the fun party!

A Fun Weekend

Yes, that's what we had over the weekend. We had so fun celebrating Erika's first birthday last Saturday at the Clubhouse. I will post the photos and stories tomorrow. For the mean time, here's one photo of Alex. For some reason she loved going to the stage and dance on her own! LOL!

Alex is having a good time!

Even if the weather was a bit gloomy that day, good thing the party still went well and a lot of people made it to the party. We got there around 2:30PM and then the party was over before 6PM. We were so tired (especially Hubby) after the party that we went home immediately after dropping by at my in-laws' house.

We spent our Sunday afternoon at the mall. I bought some stuff for my friends' baby shower which will be at our place in two weeks. I had so much fun shopping for baby clothes and good thing some of the items were on sale!

I was itching on buying for baby #2 but I kept on thinking that she can still use some of Alex's baby stuff which she just used twice or thrice. All I need to buy are some basic essentials like the newborn clothes, mittens, socks, bib, wash cloth, and towels. I think that's it. Oh we also need a stroller for the little one since we gave away Alex's stroller. The sterilizer still works and my breast pump so I guess we are ok. :)

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

Kimmy's 1st Birthday Party

This is actually a long overdue post. Kimmy is the second baby of our friend from our CFC household and one Friday last June 20, 2008 we celebrated his first birthday at their place.

It was a RIOT! The kids had a grand time. They actually tried to setup a playroom at the basement. They had this two nice inflatables that the kids really love. They kept on jumping on it the whole night! And would you believe that the kids were awake until 12AM! Yes, all the kids were hyper that night and even if we got home Alex still couldn't sleep because of excitement. I was so happy to see Alex having a great time and having to bond with our friends' kids.

We weren't able to take a lot of nice photos though because everyone was just moving so almost all the pictures turned out blurry (too bad!). But here are some of Alex's photos that I would like to share.

Happy Friday everyone! ;)

She got it from the Dada!

Aside from Alex wanting to be under the slipcovers like me while sleeping even on a hot weather, she got something from the Dada which I have just discovered recently. Here goes our conversation...

Mama: (not feeling well after a long day and trying to lie down) Aaaaaah....
Alex: You k, Mama!? Mama!? You k? (with matching pat on my back)
Mama: Yes, baby I'm ok thank you for asking. (now smiling from ear to ear)

She's been doing this for weeks now and I was really thinking where she got it. But suddenly one night I was coughing so hard when the Dada tried to ask me if I was ok, then that's when I realized she got it from the Dada! (*grin*) Here's one more...

Mama: (coughing so hard)
Alex: Want water Mama? Water?
Mama: No thank you baby, I will be fine. Thank for asking! :)

Haaaaay, these are the perks of having a little girl. After a long day of quarelling with her (trying to convince her to go to sleep, eat, take a bath, brush her teeth, make wiwi on the toilet bowl, and more) everything is all worth it!

Contemplating on Getting a Dog

Hubby has been convincing me (for months!) on getting a dog. Alex loves dogs (and cats) too so he said that Alex would definitely love having a dog in the house. You know with those accessories from pee pee pad, a nice bag, a nice house, a nice plate, and he can even imagine bringing the dog in Serendra. But unfortunately I kept his hopes down because I'm not really a pet-lover. You see, I grew up with dogs but I didn't get to love them. The smell is terrible and the effort of training them is even more frustrating. Although Hubby volunteered that he would do all these things, I am still having second thoughts of getting even one! But I would not close my doors though. If Alex would grow up and look for one in the future, who knows, I might change my mind.

My In-Laws' House Construction

A few months ago my in-laws just recently started the groundbreaking of their house. It means the construction has officially started! We are all quite excited about it, but I guess it will take two years for the workers to finish it. I can just imagine the finishing and furnishing of the house! Since their current house was built for almost two years, I'm guessing two years is indeed the number of years this house will be built. Since we had our house built last year we became familiar with the building permits and some laws in construction. I'm not sure though if it is similar to california construction law. If I were to built a house in California, I would definitely check this out since they are offering no membership fees and sign-up costs. They would offer all the information that you need and will be really helpful especially if you don't know anything about construction.

I'm on my 20th Week

I honestly feel heavier now (on my 20th week) than on my first pregnancy. I feel like my legs are huuuge now. I guess it is probably because of all the chips and chocolates that I ate every weekend. Ha! I admit, since my sugar is normal now, I had the luxury to eat anything I wanted - but with control of course. I noticed that every weekend we usually had an event that we get to eat a LOT so I guess will blame that also for my heaviness. LOL! I even had terrible, terrible backache last weekend that I couldn't walk straight. I remember before on my 5th month I couldn't even hardly feel the bulge of my tummy. Now I just feel so bloated all the time. I guess my friends were right, you are really "bigger" and "heavier" on your second pregnany.

One of the nicest things though that I get excited these days is that I get to feel the baby moving and getting active everyday. At least I know that she is fine. :)

Here's something I got from BabyCenter.com:

How your baby's growing:
Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.)

He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

Hubby in a Pharmaceutical Company

Hubby used to be in Marketing department of a Pharmaceutical company but now transferred to IT which is what he does best. He used to create some advertising brochures and editing packaging for the medicines. Now he is into networking, internet, and has recently put up their website. It's not that he is into tablet formulation which is hard to digest but he knows some of it since he was with the marketing group before.
cGMP Manufacturing also formulates tablets in Phase I and II clinical trials. They manufacture in dosages such as Capsules, hard gelatin or HPMC liquid-filled, Tablets, immediate release and many more. Medicines are one of the necessities in life nowadays and I'm glad there are getting more companies who manufacture these kind of dosages.
