Nanay's 40 Days

We celebrated Nanay's 40 days last Tuesday at our place. It was just a simple lunch with a few close friends and relatives. We had prayers before 12NN and then started lunch after that. Since it was a weekday (and a lunch) our cousins and some Titas weren't able to attend, too bad!

The food was ordered from Conti's that's why I was excited to taste it. I looove Conti's so much and in every party, I would order food from them. Not to mention affordable too!

Here is the food that we had last Tuesday :

- Pineapple Macaroni Salad
- Lumpiang Ubod
- Barbeque Spareribs (this one was really tasty!)
- Chicken Pastel
- Pansit Bam-I
- Rice
- Leche Flan (I loved it!)

A Sumptious Lunch!

Everyone loved the food including my in-laws. She even borrowed the menu from Conti's and is planning to order there in her next parties. :) I would highly recommend it.

Oh by the way, Nanay's sister brought old photos of their family that I would like to share here. It's funny because in this photo, Nanay looked exactly like my sister. :)

Our Car Insurance

We have been paying for our car insurance for 3 years now. Hubby has been convincing me to go for the cheaper ones but I wouldn't agree. You see, getting an auto insurance is an assurance for me that whatever happens to the car we can always think that it is insured.

And besides, there are lots of readily available companies out there that help individuals get a car insurance and one company that I came across is called AmericanCarQuotes. They will give you lots of information about each car insurance that you might be interested in. All you need is just fill out one form and then let the insurance companies contact you. And if you need more information about a certain company, AmericanCarQuotes will give you that through their website and I can say that they are ready to help you anytime!

All About Shoes!

Thanks for this Aggie and Kathy!

{Start Copy}

What’s your shoe size? Are your feet the same size as your mom’s feet? How about your sister’s feet? Can you borrow shoes from each other?

Post a picture of your latest shoe buy. Tag the number of women of your shoe size, i.e. size 5 = tag 5 friends. Don’t forget to drop a line in this blog when you’re done.

My Mom’s Shoe Size: 6.5 to 7
Sisters’ Shoe Sizes: 7.5
My Shoe Size: 8!

Unfortunately, I can't share my shoes with my Mom since she has small feet. Before I gave birth, I could still share mine with my sister but not anymore. :( I really love shoes but the thing is my feet is sensitive that I couldn't find the perfect shoes for my feet (long feet and toes). I would sometimes end up with too loose since my toes are long. Or I would end up wearing sandals.

Now, it's your turn, Jhona, Eds, Joy, HappyMum, Chat, Jean, Jo, and Juliana! Have fun ladies!

A Baby Shower for Three Babies.

It was Saturday when we I finally saw my highschool friends and had our baby shower for the three babies (Joy's baby - Jeli, Norin's Baby - Maharlika, and my baby girl #2). It was simple yet we all had a great time. We had to set it during lunch since Jeli is still 2 months old and Joy doesn't want to go home late for the sake of the baby.

I can't believe we all are having baby girls! Joy just gave birth to a baby girl - Jeli. Norin is having a baby girl - Maharlika next month. We will be having another baby girl in November. Oh, did I mention that Joy's first born is also a girl (her name is Jally and she is already 10 years old).

We've been friends since highschool and I'm happy to say that after all those years (even if we don't see each other often) everything is still the same when it comes to our relationship. They are truly my long time friends. We missed our other friend Terry who is now in the States. We also talked about some San Francisco jobs since we knew that Terry was in California. We hope to see her soon! Oh, it is going to be her birthday tomorrow so I'm thinking of giving her a layout or something. Will think about the layout hopefully later.

Of course, there were photos during the baby shower while we gave away our gifts to the babies (which ended up like an exchange of gifts! LOL!)...

Taking the Big Step...

...in my blogging life that is!

I finally had the guts to put up my dream blog - a travel blog! It took me months to think about it but Hubby convinced me that it's indeed worth it. I love to go around places and it would be a waste if I won't share it in my little space in the web.

So here it is, my new blog - Explore Manila!

This is a blog that will take you to places of Manila and it's nearby cities such as Tagaytay, Bicol, Batangas, Baguio, and more. Please visit the site if you have time and share some insights on what you think about the place!

But I had to warn you, I'm still updating it and links will be added soon! So do drop by and let me know if you want to be linked! ;)

Have a nice Friday everyone!

A Date with the Birthday Boy Part 2

Now this time we spent our Sunday afternoon with the kids (Alex and our nephews). Since Hubby wanted to swim with Alex and his nephews that day, and since the two boys weren't able to join us for dinner on Hubby's birthday itself, he decided to treat the kids for pizza at the in-laws'.

Alex as usual had a grand time and was laughing all throughout. She just loved spending time with her Kuyas. The two boys (aged 10 and 5) were growing up so fast though that sometimes Alex could no longer relate to their games. But come swimming time, I guess kids really think alike.

At around 4:30PM Alex was already shaking (and felt cold) but it seems like she didn't feel it because she still want to swim more. Because of that, she cried a lot. She was a bit sleepy too that's why. But at last after rinsing and reading a book for a couple of minutes she finally fell asleep, while the Kuyas continued to swim.

Hubby ordered pizzas from Pizza Hut and sausage rolls. It was a hit of course! Who wouldn't like pizza!?

I realized that it was hard to take pictures of kids swimming because they kept on moving and splashing! I got tired easily and finally gave up. LOL!

Another attempt to take some photos. But unfortunately I wasn't too successful...

A day like this is really fun. We plan to go there again, this time longer swimming time for Alex but we're not sure when, but hopefully soon!

Now, I'm off to do some research on gps fleet tracking.

On Studying Again...

The other day, I got so bored that I thought of going back to school. But I don't that's possible now since I'm with Alex the whole day. So I came across online colleges wherein I can take a few courses online. This can be done with Capella University. They make comprehensive online academic writing center available to the public. This online university has an Online Writing Center that features multi-media modules aimed at graduate level students studying in a variety of disciplines. Some topics include, annotated bibliography guide, grammar, business and technical writing, APA style and formatting, undergraduate writing resources, and many more. I hope I get to have time to do this one of these days so I could expand what I know and what I have previously learned.

Alex and Tita Trish

_mg_3502
Taken at Alex's 2nd Birthday Party in Mindanao

Now this one is funny. It also happened last weekend when Alex was at her Lola's house. While my sister (Tita Trish) was sitting in those comfortable chairs (but not as comfy as home theater chairs!) while watching TV, my Mom asked her to fix the webcam. But since she was engrossed with what she was watching she didn't want to be disturbed. Here's how their conversation happened...

Mom: Yang, can you fix the laptop please?
Yang: <--no answer-->
Mom: Yang!? Yang!? Yang!?
Alex: (In a loud voice) Tita!!! Fix laptop Please, Tito Dandy in the laptop, please fix!

It was hilarious! She actually got mad at my sister for not listening to my Mom. LOL!

Alex and Lola

p7220426
Taken when Alex was still 1 year and 4 months old

I left Alex at my Mom's place over the weekend that's why the Lola had a blast! You see, she was away for two weeks and she missed the little girl so much. She kept on texting me on how Alex was doing and how she was amazed at how Alex has grown so much in the past couple of weeks. One occasion was when Alex was trying to play with her Papermate pens and placed everything in the floor, she told Alex that she didn't like what she was doing and that it was not nice. Alex looked at her after she said that, suddenly kept quiet, and then tried to pickup all the stuff from the floor then transferred it to the bed!

I am definitely one proud Mama! It just means that she can now understand and that she can also feel guilty at same time. LOL! I just hope that she would do that EVERYTIME and that she listens to EVERYTHING we say. (I wish!)

Investing in Stocks

Recently, Hubby and I talked about investing in stocks. I know it is very risky so I tried to look for tools that I can use to make it easier. I found out that there is a tool called option screener that helps find, compare, analyze, and make money On stock Option trading. At PowerOptions we can purchase it along with a complete suite of educational materials and premium toll-free customer support. It also provides the essential data that we may need to invest with stock options. I think along with this tool, we would need to a lot of research so that we will know what we are getting into.

My Dream Phone

Actually, I just wanted a phone with a QWERTY keyboard. It can be a Motorola or a Nokia but anything that is QWERTY. But it won't be bad if I'll get this Blackberry phone with wonderful features. Especially now that there is a free drug reference for blackberry. I know I'm not a Doctor myself but knowing that it can be used by our Physicians, it means it really is a nice phone right? It is a great advantage to the Physicians because it saves time, improves patient care and safety, and reduces administrative burden! I wonder when will I ever get my dream phone!?

Reminiscing on my US Trip

I stayed and worked in the US for seven months and I can say that it was one of the best months of my life. I stayed at several United States Hotels while I was there. Well, I admit I was homesick after 3 months there since I was all alone, but the experience was worth it. While I was there I traveled from one State to another. My first stop was San Francisco. Thanks to my highschool friend Christine, she paid for my airfare! I checked out some San Francisco hotels from the internet and they had really good prices. But I stayed at my friends house for more bonding time.

lombard - San Fo

My second stop was New York. Again, thanks to my Aunt who shouldered my fare. How cool is that? My Mom checked out New York Hotels for cheap accommodations. We checked out Statue of Liberty, 42nd Street, and we even watched two musical broadway plays which I loved so much!

STATUE of Liberty - New York

My third stop was Los Angeles. One of my favorite state in the US. Los Angeles Hotels are a must to checked out for especially now that you can book over the internet and get really good prices. When I was there, I checked out Universal Studios and some malls for shopping. It was a trip that I'll never forget and I hope that one day I will be able to go back, this time with my family. :)

The Dark Knight

After our dinner at Highlands Steakhouse, we watched The Dark Knight at SM Mall of Asia. We were able to get good seats because we purchased the tickets early. We needed to line up though but it was not long. Anyway, we loved the movie so much. Well, for me, I liked it, but Hubby loooved it! The movie was dark, violent, and disturbing actually and I won't recommend it for kids. But would you believe that there were LOTS of kids in the movie house?! I just can't imagine what effect would it be for them after watching the movie.

Anyway, at first I didn't like Christian Bale as Batman (especially with his weird voice when he's transformed into Batman) but after seeing more scenes I find him really fit for the role. I also realized that he is cute too! :D His built was actually just right, he was not too big nor too small too. But his face a bit thin that's why I've mistaken him to be really thin.

Joker who was portrayed by the late Heath Ledger really did a great job. I just hated him all throughout but loved the way he acted too. I bet he'll get an award for his performance.

I also loved the twist of having two-faced in the movie. Hubby and I thought that the next sequel would be two-faced fighting Batman but we were wrong since he died in the movie. So now, we are really curious if there is another sequel coming soon and what would happen next. After all, Joker is still alive!

Shopping Online

This is cool. There's a new dollar coin that has been released and it is available at Cable Shopping Network (Hubby's favorite channel!). You can also buy more products over their website and what they want is to provide easy access to a wide array of collectibles, have fun, and build relationships with their customers along the way. It is indeed fun to shop online and would definitely try it one of these days. And since my Mom and Dad are going to the US probably early next year, what I can do is shop online and then have it delivered to their future address! Oh, I can't wait for that!

What to Do when 2-Year-Old Throws a Tantrum?

Well, I couldn't help myself and be worried about Alex's tantrums so I just did more research on 2 year olds throwing tantrums and what to do about it. According to BabyCenter.com, here are the things that I can do when Alex's pitches a fit!

- Don't lose your cool
- Remember that you're the adult (well this one I have to practice more! LOL!)
- Talk it over afterward
- Try to head off tantrum-triggering situations
- Watch for signs of overstress

I can't believe that I'm dealing with tantrums nowadays. I used to think that Alex won't do it but I was totally wrong. I guess every child would pass through this stage. I just hope that Alex would pass with flying colors!

Why 2-Year-Olds Throw Trantrums?

I had another sort of a fight with the little girl today. She again didn't take a nap. And not only that, she also did the tantrums by whining and lying down the floor. Sigh. That's the only thing that I can do - SIGH.

So I did a little research on why 2-yr-olds throw tantrums from BabyCenter.com.

A temper tantrum is the emotional equivalent of a summer storm — sudden and sometimes fierce, but often over as quickly as it starts. One minute you and your child are enjoying your dinner in a restaurant, the next she's whimpering, whining, and then screaming to go home. Two-year-olds are especially prone to such episodes.

Though you may worry that you're raising a tyrant, take heart — at this age, it's unlikely that your child is throwing a fit to be manipulative. More likely, she's having a meltdown in response to frustration. Often, your 2-year-old's language skills — or lack thereof — are to blame. "Two-year-olds are beginning to understand more and more of the words they hear, yet their ability to articulate their feelings and needs is limited," says Claire B. Kopp, professor of applied developmental psychology at California's Claremont Graduate University. As a result, frustration builds when your child can't express how she feels.

Well, reading this assures me that everything is ok, but when I see her already doing those tantrums, I just can't help but feel disappointed and worried at the same time.

On Selling Cars

My in-laws are selling their chevrolet van for a couple of months now. It has automatic doors and windows. And I'm pretty sure that Chevrolet Radiators are still in good condition. They are just selling it because they want to upgrade to a new van. I read somewhere that there is already a store online that sells good quality radiators. It is called Radiators.com and it is the largest radiator distributor in the country. They offer radiators for every make and model, from BMW to Toyota radiators, each engineered to OE specifications for the perfect fit, the first time. Since chevrolet parts are kinda hard to find here in Manila, I guess it's nice to check this out and see if they could work out the delivery too.

Need a Vacation!

I have always blogged about this. I really need a vacation. A real one, that is. Not a trip that would entail us to get stressed out because we want to shop all we want. Or a trip that would only take us a few days so we had to cram everyday and check out the places as much as we can.

I imagine a vacation in an all inclusive resort. With massage everyday, gourmet food, nice and relaxing DVDs to watch, no cellphone, no internet, only a pure heaven-like vacation. Probably at the beach or on top of the mountain. Either of the two would do for me. A perfect time to reflect and be thankful for all the blessings in my life.

Paintball, Anyone?

I used to have a boss who loves paintball so much. After too much stress in the office, he would go to that place in the South and enjoy the game as much as he can. I just couldn't relate though because I haven't touched airsoft guns ever since. I have tried using a real gun during our hunting days in the province but they said that airsoft guns are different, much lighter. We can also purchase it over the internet now. A Date with the Birthday Boy!

It's been a while since Hubby and I went out on a date so since it was his birthday last Wednesday, I decided to treat him for dinner and movie last Saturday! We both had a blast, being away from work, tasks, mommy duties, household duties, and all other stuff, it was nice to be alone with Hubby once again.

We dropped Alex and yaya at my Mom's place before we headed to Mall of Asia. We had dinner at Highlands Steakhouse. I've been wanting to eat here actually for a year already ever since I read about the review at Dessert Comes First blog. And now that we had time and budget, we jumped at the opportunity. We didn't have a hard time looking for the place. It was at 2/F Entertainment Hall and the restaurant was at the corner. Yes, the place was quite big and cozy too.

Happy Birthday! IMG_2980 IMG_2977

The restaurant was owned by Tagaytay Highlands so I expected really good food. A bit expensive but it was all worth it. I ordered Full Baby Back Ribs (Pork) for Hubby and I had 10oz. Rib eye steak. Would you believe that I finished all the steak by myself!? I couldn't believe it either! We ordered the set menu package so aside from the ribs and steak, we had bread, salad, (yummy) soup, and dessert (which we couldn't finish so we had to bring it home instead!)

IMG_2985 IMG_2990 IMG_2996
No photos of salad and soup because we were too hungry to take photos...LOL!

At exactly 7PM there were fireworks shown at the bay. It was nice. Hubby was able to take some photos.

IMG_2999 IMG_3000 IMG_3006

IMG_3021 IMG_3024 IMG_3026

After the fireworks, some country/folk singer started to sing for us. I'm not too familiar with the songs though but the thought was nice and kind of romantic too. :)

After our very heavy meal, we were too full to go to the cinema so we decided to walk first. As soon as we got tired and since it was time for our movie, we headed to the movie house!

But will get back to you on how we liked "The Dark Knight" so much!

Have you been to a Tradeshow?

Me, I haven't, in a couple of years already. The last trade show that I've been to I think was the Microsoft Tradeshow in Fort Bonifacio which was like 5 years ago. And now that I'm working from home, the more I'm not exposed to any tradeshows which is related to my job.

Now, I really do miss going to a tradeshow and learn something new. The trade show booths are something that I look forward to and the brochures that go along with the booths. Sometimes I would even get free stuff to try on. I remember there were also banner stands that made the booths very attractive. It helps actually especially if these banners are really nice it's like these banners make the product more interesting.

The next time I will be coming to a tradeshow I will be keen to the setup like the Pipe and Drape because who knows I might setup one myself in the future. I would want it to be interesting and inviting and not boring at all.

This is one of Alex's favorite stunt nowadays. Another one is climbing up our side tables (which is the reason why we had to store away our table lamp and will be stored there in the next few years). She loves to jump and jump at our bed too. I guess these are more signs of her growing up and one way of telling us that she is indeed at her "Terrible Two Stage". Of course sometimes we would find her cute and charming but when she is at the edge of the table or our bed, it makes us so nervous that she might fall! She fell actually twice or thrice. She cried for a few minutes then continued on with her "stunts".

I guess this is the stage where she explores EVERYTHING. She would want to know how it feels to do such things. So with that, I just decided to let her be. As long as she is safe and it won't do any harm to her, I guess it should be ok.

I Can't Help It!

After giving much thought, I did more research on cash advance and payday loans. I just can't help it! I got more curious on how it really works and how much interest will it cost me. I realized that I can borrow cash from these companies for emergency purposes like when I need to shop for shoes or bags. LOL! Of course, I'm kidding. You see, there are a lot of unexpected expenses nowadays like when I need to buy more vitamins, now that I'm pregnant. We also need to bring Alex to her Pedia next weekend for her vaccination which was not in the budget initially. There are also times that our helpers would need cash advance because they needed to send some money to their families. These situations are really unavoidable and important that it makes me think more on getting loans when the need arises.

Still Waiting...

For my monthly salary that is. It's supposed to be in my account last July 15th but until now I still couldn't find it. You see, there are bills that I need to pay now such as telephone and internet bills but I couldn't pay yet. So now, I'm thinking of getting cash advance to be able to start paying my bills. I know there are a lot of companies out there who are credible and are willing to lend out cash. I think it's just normal for people (like me) to get short on cash sometimes, especially now that the price of oil is getting higher every weekend! And not only that, the canned goods and the food that we buy from the market has gone up as well! (*sigh*)

But anyway, for those who are interested, here are the ticket prices for the concert:

She's Back!

My Mom that is. She was in Macau with my brother for two weeks and she had fun shopping there! I had several orders from her and I asked her to buy some stuff for Alex, baby # 2 and myself. She is actually leaving again probably early next year. She is just waiting for the petition to push through. Since the US embassy already called her and my Dad a couple of months ago. When they get to the States I don't know if they will hire a lawyer so they won't process the papers themselves. I'm not so familiar with the different fields of each lawyer though, but I'm definite that orange county probate attorney won't be able to help them in this aspect. Although if they plan to purchase an estate one day, these attorneys can surely help them. I'm sure there are a lot of professionals out there who is very good at what they do.

Hubby's Birthday Celebration

We had a simple dinner with Hubby's officemates and family last night to celebrate his 30th birthday. The guests started to arrived at 5:30PM since they went straight from the office. I'm glad that the weather cooperated since the rain has stopped come dinner time.

Before dinner we had to clean the house and prepare the tables and chairs. We even had to use air tools to fix the curtains and some stuff in the guest room.

Since I don't really cook, we just ordered food from Conti's. We had Roastbeef in Mushroom Sauce, Parmesan Fish Fillet, and Fresh Lumpiang ubod. Then I cooked some buttered vegetables and baked 3 whole chicken. The chicken was marinated for the whole day. It was worth it though because everyone loved it. I also ordered pansit from Wok-in which was also a hit!

And oh, thanks to Hubby's office for the yummy Tiramisu cake from Red Ribbon. I loooved it! Of course now that my sugar is normal I had the luxury to eat at least a thin slice. LOL! Yes, only a thin slice because I don't want to have my sugar shoot up again.

Anyway, after dinner they had a few drinks of red wine, beer, and brandy. And then at around 9PM everybody called it a night.

It was just a simple celebration but I think Hubby had fun last night. You see, he got drunk (blame it on the red wine) because he didn't notice that he finished almost 1 bottle of wine. LOL!

Happy Birthday Sweetie! :D

Checking out the Travel Deals

Well, after posting about a gloomy day, I realized that why not check out some travel deals over the net just make things lighter? I know that since it's the rainy season, there are a lot of cheap flights out there that we can get. I wonder if my OB will allow me to go though. But since it's now my second pregnancy, I can't see the reason why she would not. I can already picture myself in Vietnam or Singapore shopping for bags, shoes, and clothes for us! This would be wonderful!

A Rainy Day Today

When I woke up this morning I realized that the weather was so conducive for sleeping! I was thinking that a vacation would be so nice. Not on the beach though because it would be gloomy to go there on a rainy season. I'm thinking of staying in a hotel or something and sleep the whole day! Yes, I would love that. Especially if we stay in a hotel like reno hotels where the service is excellent and the room is really wonderful. You see that last that Hubby and I checked in a hotel was after the wedding, which was considered as our honeymoon. Imagine, that was actually 3 years ago. I wonder if I should keep this in mind on my birthday two months from now!? Hmmmm...We'll see. (*grin*)

(Our Niece) Erika Gabrielle A. Turns 1!

I can't believe that our niece Erika (my SIL's daughter) turned 1 already last July 11, 2008! It seems like only yesterday when I posted here that my SIL just gave birth to a baby girl! Babies really do grow up so fast!

Anyway, Erika's first birthday was a blast! They chose a "fairy" themed party and the little girls who attended wore wings. We also bought wings for Alex but for some reason she just didn't want to wear it! Probably it was itchy or something. The balloon decor of the party was nice and the backdrop was so pretty.

Food carts were: NYPD fries, Frito Frio ice cream, and Dunkin Donuts. Too bad I couldn't drink coffee so I just tried to enjoy the smell of it. LOL! (Oh, how I miss drinking coffee!) They also had glitter tattoo and a huge inflatable that the kids really love.

Would you believe that when Alex first saw this inflatable, she immediately removed her shoes! But since she is too young for it, we couldn't allow her to play. But in the middle of the party, she finally was able to play but with Hubby's assistance. That's the reason why Hubby got so tired after the party. LOL!

The food was yummy too. They served: Paella, Lasagna, Baked Fish, Beef Stroganoff, Baked Chicken, and Crepe for dessert. I loved the food so much. I just couldn't eat that much though because I would feel bloated afterwards.

The cake was also nice. It was made my Kitchen Crafts and what I really like about it was that it was not too sweet, well the mocha was not and if ever I would have another party, I would probably get them. A little expensive but it was worth it.

Here are the photos of the fun party!

A Fun Weekend

Yes, that's what we had over the weekend. We had so fun celebrating Erika's first birthday last Saturday at the Clubhouse. I will post the photos and stories tomorrow. For the mean time, here's one photo of Alex. For some reason she loved going to the stage and dance on her own! LOL!

Alex is having a good time!

Even if the weather was a bit gloomy that day, good thing the party still went well and a lot of people made it to the party. We got there around 2:30PM and then the party was over before 6PM. We were so tired (especially Hubby) after the party that we went home immediately after dropping by at my in-laws' house.

We spent our Sunday afternoon at the mall. I bought some stuff for my friends' baby shower which will be at our place in two weeks. I had so much fun shopping for baby clothes and good thing some of the items were on sale!

I was itching on buying for baby #2 but I kept on thinking that she can still use some of Alex's baby stuff which she just used twice or thrice. All I need to buy are some basic essentials like the newborn clothes, mittens, socks, bib, wash cloth, and towels. I think that's it. Oh we also need a stroller for the little one since we gave away Alex's stroller. The sterilizer still works and my breast pump so I guess we are ok. :)

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

Kimmy's 1st Birthday Party

This is actually a long overdue post. Kimmy is the second baby of our friend from our CFC household and one Friday last June 20, 2008 we celebrated his first birthday at their place.

It was a RIOT! The kids had a grand time. They actually tried to setup a playroom at the basement. They had this two nice inflatables that the kids really love. They kept on jumping on it the whole night! And would you believe that the kids were awake until 12AM! Yes, all the kids were hyper that night and even if we got home Alex still couldn't sleep because of excitement. I was so happy to see Alex having a great time and having to bond with our friends' kids.

We weren't able to take a lot of nice photos though because everyone was just moving so almost all the pictures turned out blurry (too bad!). But here are some of Alex's photos that I would like to share.

She got it from the Dada!

Aside from Alex wanting to be under the slipcovers like me while sleeping even on a hot weather, she got something from the Dada which I have just discovered recently. Here goes our conversation...

Mama: (not feeling well after a long day and trying to lie down) Aaaaaah....
Alex: You k, Mama!? Mama!? You k? (with matching pat on my back)
Mama: Yes, baby I'm ok thank you for asking. (now smiling from ear to ear)

She's been doing this for weeks now and I was really thinking where she got it. But suddenly one night I was coughing so hard when the Dada tried to ask me if I was ok, then that's when I realized she got it from the Dada! (*grin*) Here's one more...

Mama: (coughing so hard)
Alex: Want water Mama? Water?
Mama: No thank you baby, I will be fine. Thank for asking! :)

Haaaaay, these are the perks of having a little girl. After a long day of quarelling with her (trying to convince her to go to sleep, eat, take a bath, brush her teeth, make wiwi on the toilet bowl, and more) everything is all worth it!

Contemplating on Getting a Dog

Hubby has been convincing me (for months!) on getting a dog. Alex loves dogs (and cats) too so he said that Alex would definitely love having a dog in the house. You know with those accessories from pee pee pad, a nice bag, a nice house, a nice plate, and he can even imagine bringing the dog in Serendra. But unfortunately I kept his hopes down because I'm not really a pet-lover. You see, I grew up with dogs but I didn't get to love them. The smell is terrible and the effort of training them is even more frustrating. Although Hubby volunteered that he would do all these things, I am still having second thoughts of getting even one! But I would not close my doors though. If Alex would grow up and look for one in the future, who knows, I might change my mind.

My In-Laws' House Construction

A few months ago my in-laws just recently started the groundbreaking of their house. It means the construction has officially started! We are all quite excited about it, but I guess it will take two years for the workers to finish it. I can just imagine the finishing and furnishing of the house! Since their current house was built for almost two years, I'm guessing two years is indeed the number of years this house will be built. Since we had our house built last year we became familiar with the building permits and some laws in construction. I'm not sure though if it is similar to california construction law. If I were to built a house in California, I would definitely check this out since they are offering no membership fees and sign-up costs. They would offer all the information that you need and will be really helpful especially if you don't know anything about construction.

I'm on my 20th Week

I honestly feel heavier now (on my 20th week) than on my first pregnancy. I feel like my legs are huuuge now. I guess it is probably because of all the chips and chocolates that I ate every weekend. Ha! I admit, since my sugar is normal now, I had the luxury to eat anything I wanted - but with control of course. I noticed that every weekend we usually had an event that we get to eat a LOT so I guess will blame that also for my heaviness. LOL! I even had terrible, terrible backache last weekend that I couldn't walk straight. I remember before on my 5th month I couldn't even hardly feel the bulge of my tummy. Now I just feel so bloated all the time. I guess my friends were right, you are really "bigger" and "heavier" on your second pregnany.

One of the nicest things though that I get excited these days is that I get to feel the baby moving and getting active everyday. At least I know that she is fine. :)

Here's something I got from BabyCenter.com:

How your baby's growing:
Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.)

He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

Hubby in a Pharmaceutical Company

Hubby used to be in Marketing department of a Pharmaceutical company but now transferred to IT which is what he does best. He used to create some advertising brochures and editing packaging for the medicines. Now he is into networking, internet, and has recently put up their website. It's not that he is into tablet formulation which is hard to digest but he knows some of it since he was with the marketing group before.
cGMP Manufacturing also formulates tablets in Phase I and II clinical trials. They manufacture in dosages such as Capsules, hard gelatin or HPMC liquid-filled, Tablets, immediate release and many more. Medicines are one of the necessities in life nowadays and I'm glad there are getting more companies who manufacture these kind of dosages.

A Fun Weekend

Our fun weekend started on Friday. We were invited by Hubby's college friend and his wife to have dinner at his place. We were excited because Alex would love to play with their daughters Ishi and Ysay. We got to their place at around 8PM and had dinner as soon as we got there. Alex and the kids on the other hand played at the other room. It was a fun night since we get to talk about everything! Here are some (blurry) photos that we got right before we went home.

The highlight of my Saturday was meeting the MBAPs for coffee at High Street. While we were chatting and having coffee in Starbucks, Hubby and Alex were at Market, Market trying to kill time. It was a bit raining so they just stayed there for 2 hours. Me, on the other hand had a great time as usual with the MBAPs. It was nice seeing you all ladies! (*wink*)

Our Sunday was just spent at home to rest and unwind. Hubby was able to install the curtains finally and it looked really nice. :) We were able to rest this weekend but ironically before going to sleep I had a TERRIBLE backache which I couldn't explain why I had it. Good thing when I woke up this morning I felt better already.

Anyway, it's going to be a relaxing week for me, and I look forward to another fun weekend!

Alex and her Good Manners

I'm honestly surprised how Alex has learned some good manners at her age (2 years and 4 months old). Sometimes we would laugh and can't help but feel proud of the things that she had learned so far...

1. She would say please when she needs something like water, book, milk, etc...
2. She would say thank you when she got what she needed
3. She would say excuse me to us or her toys when she needs to move them
4. She would say excuse me when she burps
5. She would say excuse me when she sneezes!

I'm one proud Mama! But of course there are days that she is not in the mood to follow what I say or she would insist on what she wants like jumping in the bed late at night. There are days that she just doesn't want to share her toys or stuff. There is this fake cry that she would do when she didn't get what she wants!

It gets very irritating I tell you, but I guess it's part of the terrible yet terrific two stage! In line with this, here's the photo of the little girl, which I would like to place on a custom picture framing soon.

IMG_1099

This was taken when was Alex was still 1 year and 11 months old. She love all these three toys so much that she was trying to fit all of them (including herself) in the small chair. LOL!

Her taste for books improved as well now that she is 2. She now enjoys reading...

1. Cinderella (which she thought was Barbie)
2. Alice in Wonderland
3. Big Bird Learns to Share
4. Clifford the Big Red Dog
5. The Big Red Balloon
6. The Duck Learns to Swim

Unfortunately she doesn't like the A-B-C book anymore. Probably because she got tired of me asking her which letters are in the book. LOL! :D

I know there are more to come when it comes to the little girl's milestones and I just can't wait to see all of them soon!

The Increase of Gas

...actually made people thought of buying motorcycles. Hubby's friend who was a little bit conservative even thought of buying one for him to use on his way to work. I'm not sure though if he's contemplating on buying used Harleys which would get him a good deal. But it surprised me to know that he is thinking about it. Good thing Hubby is not convinced yet although he made some jokes on buying a bicycle for him to use on his way to work. LOL!

Fitness First

Before I got pregnant I asked Hubby to buy me an exerciser from Home TV shopping. It worked well but in the opposite point of view. I gained weight even more! You see, when I try to exercise, my food intake would increase and with that I would gain weight more. Hubby is contemplating in exercising. He is getting more and more conscious everyday. I wonder if treadmill would work for him this time?

A Dream Job

Wouldn't be amazing to work for jobs in beauty industry!? I was thinking that it doesn't only entail benefits of being able to be in a spa every now and then, but also you get to be forced to be beautiful. You see ever since I started working from home, I didn't put any effort in dressing up nor putting makeup anymore. What for!? Nobody will see me anyway! LOL! Especially now that I'm on my 19th week of pregnancy, all the more I got paler and bigger every minute! But just in case there are people out there who would want to apply for a dream job (of mine) in the beauty industry, you might want to check out the Beauty Industry Job Placement Website of BeautyJobs which was just recently launched as a brand new online job search engine - www.beautyjobs.com.

Our Weekend

We were busy last Saturday buying some food in the market and stuff in the grocery. It's the last weekend of the month so we needed to refill our kitchen for the next month. We weren't able to wake up early but we still were able to buy some good fish and shrimps.

Since my Dad had a flight to Mindanao the next day, we had dinner at Ortigas' Palengke at Paluto with my sister. We planned to go to Serendra afterwards but the rain was so hard that we decided to go home and had our dessert at home.

The next day (Sunday) after bringing my Dad to the airport, we went straight to the in-laws to watch Pacquiao's fight. It was an interesting fight since both Diaz an Pacquiao were strong. I was also amazed at the ring girls (if that's what you call them) and their sexy costumes or outfits. But I'm sure they weren't highlighted because all of the people's eyes were glued on both Diaz and Pacquiao. I'm still glad he won another title. I'm not into boxing you see, but it's just fun to watch Hubby and the rest while they watch the fight. :)

We also had lunch there after watching the fight then took a nap. Since the weather was so conducive to sleeping, I think we were able to sleep for quite awhile. I'm glad that we were able to rest. At 5pm, we then went to the church to hear mass.

After mass we went to my Mom's place since it was Nanay's 9th day. They prepared a small get-together with the cousins and I can say that the food they prepared was really yummy - Kare-kare, Kaldereta, Paella, Pansit, and Chicken with veggies. I loved the food. I can't believe that it's been 9 days already and time indeed flies so fast.
